About Us

Marengo is a leading communications consultancy, focusing on political and community engagement. Our clients range from housebuilding, retail and commercial through to renewables and infrastructure.

Established in 2017, we have offices in Bristol, Launceston and London. We pride ourselves on our unique company structure – the ‘hourglass model’ – which means the day to day running of client accounts is led by senior members of the team with support from a bank of professional support staff. We simply don’t employ junior account handlers.

We're looking for:

At least two talented, committed and genuinely nice communications professionals.

We are looking for either an Associate Director or Director to drive forwards our West of England operations, from our office in Bristol. Someone with knowledge, relationships and experience in the region who can help drive this arm of the business forward, under the stewardship of our Board Directors.

We are also looking for either an Associate Director or Director to work with our existing team in building our Home Counties / South Coast operations. This role can operate from our office in London or establish a new office at a mutually agreeable location – without doubt – this will include hybrid work! Someone with knowledge, relationships and experience in the region who can help drive this arm of the business forward, under the stewardship of our Board Directors.

Job Description:

  • Independently managing development projects, providing strategic advice and local knowledge to clients and ensuring content and programmes align with client briefs and objectives.
  • Leading on business development across the region in collaboration with other senior team members.
  • Creating compelling consultation material whether exhibition material, consultation websites, press releases; or proposal and situation analysis reports.
  • Building on already strong relationships with stakeholders across the region, as well as clients and others in the industry.
  • Attending, organising and managing in-person and online consultation events, with occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Overseeing project finances to ensure value is delivered for our clients and the business.
  • Management of client accounts, to ensure client objectives are met within their expected timeframe and at the highest of quality.

Person Specification:

  • 6+ years in planning PR.
  • Strong knowledge and established relationships including clients, politicians and others in the industry.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to advise at a senior level.
  • Strong relationship, networking and business development skills.
  • Track record of business development.
  • Client management skills – unafraid to voice opinions and progress ideas.
  • Positive outlook, works collaboratively and a good team player.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work in fast paced and varied environments.
